Ed Marszal Receives CCPS Best Paper Award at the Global Congress on Process Safety
The final session of the Global Congress on Process Safety, held last week in San Antonio, Texas, included awards from the 2021 Show. In that session, Kenexis President Ed Marszal was awarded the CCPS Best Paper Award for the paper entitled, “Risk Assessment and Safeguarding of Lithium Ion Battery Containing Facilities” – co-written by Austin Bryan on Kenexis. The award and recognition are timely, as in the time period between the presentation of the paper and the award, several serious incidents related to Lithium Ion battery decompositions have occurred including small, but fatal, accidents of electric vehicles all the way up to the sinking of the cargo ship the Felicity Ace. Kenexis continues to research and apply its start of the art knowledge and tools to safeguard emerging green energy applications like battery systems and hydrogen fuel systems.
