Safety Instrumented Systems Services
Our (SIS) Safety Instrumented Systems Services are engineering services designed to assist SIS Engineers, I&C, and PSM personnel develop and maintain the safety systems that detect out-of-control process conditions, and automatically return the process to a safe state in accordance with ISA/IEC 61511 Functional Safety – Safety Instrumented Systems for the Process Industry Sector and OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) Standard 29 CFR 1910.119 standards .
SIL Verification
SIL Verification includes determination of probability of failure on demand, spurious trip rates, and other performance metrics. SIL Verification considers the type of equipment employed, advanced voting arrangements, diagnostics, and testing frequency. Once SIL Selection (performance target) is completed (usually using LOPA), achievement of the SIL Selection is verified using SIL Verification.
SIL Verification can be calculated easily with our database in Vertigo™ SIS Safety Lifecycle software.
Test Plan Development, Optimization, and Verification
Test Plan Development, Optimization, and Verification ensure the ongoing integrity of a SIS throughout its lifecycle requires vigilant maintenance and testing practices that are aligned with the risk analysis assumptions and requirements specifications.

Functional Safety Assessment
Engineering service to verify that the SIS is designed in compliance with the ISA/IEC 61511, OSHA PSM 1910.119, and best practices of peer organizations.
Site Acceptance Testing/Validation
Provide qualified engineers for each step in Pre-Startup Acceptance Testing in accordance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) Standard (29 CFR 1910.119), the EPA Risk Management Program rule (40 CFR 68), and ISA/IEC 61511 Functional safety – Safety instrumented systems for the process industry sector to verify as builds meet the Safety Requirements Specification.
Safety Requirements Specification
Engineering service provides all the requirements developed during the risk analysis and conceptual design phases of the safety lifecycle, and other safety critical requirements, collected and presented in a design basis document referred to as SRS.
SRS data can be maintained easily throughout an SIS lifecycle with Vertigo™ SIS Safety Lifecycle software.
Continuing Engineering Support
Functional Safety Management Program maintenance is challenging. Our Continuing Engineering Support team provides a consulting engineer to assist your team as required. Our team of chemical engineers and functional safety experts are available for short or extended periods to function as part of an engineering team for something as simple as verifying SIL calculations or as complex as audits.
